1up Mushroom

My second attempt at a sprite painting, this was an Xmas present/commission for Kristopher. Painted on a 4x4 inch, 1.5 inch deep canvas, done in acrylics with Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish poured on top. I like the ease of application and clarity of the varnish, but it remains flexible when dry…what I’d really like is a poured-on resin finish.

After three massive explosions over the previous 16 hours, the volcanic island of Krakatoa suffers a final, inconceivably destructive blast. The noise is heard 3,000 miles away in Madagascar. Two-thirds of the island’s land mass collapses into the ocean, and the resulting 175-foot tsunami wipes away 163 coastal towns and villages along the Sunda Straight, killing 36,417 inhabitants.

I was just looking at this again a realized I should make a silkscreen out of it! Who doesn’t love vikings? I also kind of like the idea of using my friends’ designs for making and selling t-shirts…I’d like everyone to be able to get paid for the art they do.
